On March 19th, after classes had wrapped up for the day, Scalpel Society had the pleasure of hosting a Medical Ethics Roundtable featuring the insightful and engaging Dr. Christina Greenfield. An orthopedic surgery resident, former corporate lawyer, and proud Marianopolis alumna, Dr. Greenfield brought a unique and multifaceted perspective to the conversation.
The roundtable explored a wide range of compelling topics, including:
- Ethical dilemmas in informed consent
- Cultural and religious beliefs in treatment decisions
- Resource allocation during crises
- Ethical responsibility in medical errors
What followed was a lively and thought-provoking discussion, with students openly debating different points of view. The result was one of our most dynamic and well-received events to date.
We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Greenfield and hope to welcome her back in the future. Medical ethics remains a vital but often overlooked area in healthcare education, and this event reminded us just how powerful those conversations can be.
