Scalpel Society will be hosting its first seminar

Scalpel Society will be hosting its first seminar of the 2024-2025 school year, with a very special guest, Dr. Wassef. He is a renown general surgeon, specializing in gastroenterology and oncology. The seminar has three focal points: colorectal cancer, including its causes, cellular pathways, epidemiology, prevention, treatments, and complications, followed by recent research in the field of gastroenterology and oncology: the role of microbiota in colonic healing and cancer recurrence, concluding with the road ahead for aspiring surgeons. Today we held our first suturing workshop of the semester, alongside top gun and cardiac surgery resident, Calvin Diep! We want to thank Dr. Diep @med.calvin for his time. The workshop was a great success, and the pizza, delicious! With the sheer amount of people signed up for the waitlist, this won’t be our last workshop, so keep an eye out! 🩺🩻
