FAQ

Is the club only for health science students?

No, of course not! Anyone from any program can join. It’s not just for future medical students either; if you’re interested in charity/volunteering or even labs, Scalpel Society will be super fun!

What will be expected of those who join the club?

Our goal is to make the experience enjoyable, not stressful or unpleasant, so we’ll never force our club members to attend any meeting they don’t want to or to participate in anything they don’t want to. Everything you choose to participate in will be your choice! Overall, it’ll be very manageable with the Marianopolis workload.

How many MEETings will there be during the semester?

Giving a specific number is difficult, but the club mainly consists of activities. We won’t have routine meetings, only meetings to discuss fundraisers or events we’re hosting. Those meetings will vary based on how much planning is necessary.

What kind of activities will the club be hosting?

Throughout the semester, we have an exciting lineup of events planned, including multiple seminars from renowned surgeons in Montreal. These seminars will also offer honours points upon the completion of an abstract. Additionally, we will be partnering with various clubs to host dissections, and there will be multiple suturing workshops available.

How do I join?

To become a member of Scalpel Society, you will need to wait until Join A Club Day at the beginning of each semester. During that time, a sign-up sheet will be available for a specific time window. If you miss the sign-up window, you must wait until the following semester or reach out to an executive directly. This process ensures that club planning is organized and suitable for the correct number of members.

How do I become an executive?

Unfortunately, Scalpel Society has already chosen its core team for this school year: Miya, Aditi, and Océane. ♡ Unless we need to expand the team, you must apply to become an executive in the fall semester.

we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our graduating executives, Miya Lippens and Océane Baalbaki. From the very beginning, they’ve stood by this club with unwavering dedication. Their loyalty, resilience, and leadership through every challenge have shaped the foundation of what we are today.
As they turn the page to a new chapter, we have no doubt they’ll carry their compassion and strength into the world of medicine. We’re endlessly proud—and so excited to see the incredible doctors they’re destined to become.
